First, you should make sure your Serum plugin is up to date: Simply check your account interface on XFer’s website to see if an update is available.
Then you simply need to locate the skin folder to add new skins.
- On Windows the folder is: Documents/Xfer Serum/Presets/Skins
- On Mac, the folder is: Library/Audio/Presets/Xfer Records/Serum Presets/Skins
You should find the “Default” folder for the default skin, be careful with that and don’t touch it.
The skins you download will usually come in a folder, just place those next to the “Default” folder. Inside of each skin folder, there will be 4 assets:
-1x: All digital assets at normal scaling when at 100%
-2x: All digital assets at doubled scaling for anything above 100%
-Fonts: Included fonts with the skin
-colormap.png: The color map for LFO’s, envelopes, and other reactive modulations
You should then be able to switch skins by clicking on SERUM logo in the left corner of the synth.
Pick a skin from the drop down menu and you’re good to go.
